State addendum · first edition, October 2026 Ready

Employment Services in Massachusetts

Massachusetts sets supported employment rates in regulation and pays vocational rehabilitation by completed component. Its protective system and privacy law are stricter than Maryland's in places.

The three biggest differences

  1. Rates in regulation. Supported employment rates are set in state regulation, and vocational rehabilitation pays by completed component.
  2. A separate protection agency. Abuse of adults 18 to 59 goes to the Disabled Persons Protection Commission, and every hire is checked against its registry.
  3. Stricter law. All-party consent to record, overpayments disclosed within 60 days, and paid sick and family leave.
