Employment Services in Idaho
In Idaho the Medicaid division itself runs developmental disability services. One waiver service, Supported Employment, carries the journey inside a budget set by an independent assessment.
Idaho at a glance
| Agency for employment services | Department of Health and Welfare, Bureau of Developmental Disability Services |
|---|---|
| How employment is funded | Idaho DD Waiver, with individual budgets; Extended Employment Services (state-funded) |
| Vocational rehabilitation | Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation; Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired |
| Medicaid agency | Department of Health and Welfare, Division of Medicaid |
| Minimum wage | Federal $7.25 (local increases barred) |
The three biggest differences
- One service, one budget. Waiver Supported Employment sits inside an assessed budget; going over it needs an exception review.
- Long-term support left VR. Extended Employment Services moved from vocational rehabilitation to the health department in 2022.
- A strict documentation bar. Notes are written at the time of service, signed by the participant, and never generated by AI.
