Employment Services in Georgia
In Georgia, vocational rehabilitation starts every supported employment case and pays clear milestones; the waiver carries the long-term support.
Georgia at a glance
| Agency for employment services | Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) |
|---|---|
| How employment is funded | NOW and COMP waivers |
| Vocational rehabilitation | Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA) |
| Medicaid agency | Department of Community Health |
| Minimum wage | Federal $7.25 (state $5.15) |
The three biggest differences
- GVRA first, then the waiver. Waiver supported employment must begin with a GVRA-affiliated agency.
- Well-defined milestones. GVRA pays for discovery, placement, training and stabilization; new providers enroll each April.
- A low legal floor. With a federal-only minimum wage and one-party recording, the package's own rules carry more weight.
