Employment Services in Delaware
Delaware offers two Medicaid routes to the same employment services, its own job coach credential, and thorough screening before anyone is hired.
Delaware at a glance
| Agency for employment services | Division of Developmental Disabilities Services (DDDS) |
|---|---|
| How employment is funded | DDDS Lifespan Waiver; Pathways to Employment |
| Vocational rehabilitation | Division of Vocational Rehabilitation; Division for the Visually Impaired |
| Medicaid agency | Division of Medicaid and Medical Assistance |
| Minimum wage | $15.00 |
The three biggest differences
- Two routes, one rate. The Lifespan Waiver and Pathways both pay supported employment by the quarter hour.
- Delaware's own credential. Job coaches complete a state-approved curriculum and six months of mentoring.
- Screening before hire, no subminimum wage. A central background check and drug screen; subminimum wage repealed in 2024.
