State addendum · first edition, October 2026 Ready
Employment Services in Alaska
Alaska's waiver employment menu is short, its rules are in places stricter than Maryland's, and its vocational rehabilitation agency publishes hourly provider rates.
Alaska at a glance
| Agency for employment services | Division of Senior and Disabilities Services (SDS), Alaska Department of Health |
|---|---|
| How employment is funded | People with IDD Waiver; Individualized Supports Waiver |
| Vocational rehabilitation | Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) |

| Minimum wage | $14.00 from 1 July 2026; $15.00 from 1 July 2027 |
The three biggest differences
- Two services carry the whole journey. Pre-Employment and Supported Employment hold Discovery, job development and follow-along inside them.
- Stricter than Maryland in places. Employment First is in statute, subminimum wage is repealed, and every worker is fingerprinted before a claim is paid.
- Published hourly VR rates. DVR pays community rehabilitation programs by the hour, with probation rates for new providers.
