Employment Services in Alabama
Alabama runs developmental disability services through its Department of Mental Health, across three waivers with different employment menus — and vocational rehabilitation always goes first.

| Minimum wage | Federal $7.25 (no state minimum) |
The three biggest differences
- A mental-health department, three waivers. Each waiver has its own employment menu, so the manual's journey is mapped three ways.
- Outcomes, not 15-minute units. The Community Waiver Program pays Exploration, Discovery and Job Development as outcomes.
- Federal law fills the gaps. With no state minimum wage, Employment First law or false claims act, the program's own policy carries several Maryland protections.
